What a crazy busy week!
This past week has been the busiest of my Summer so far. I am so glad it is behind us. However, I did find three great things in it!
Carissa started her Summer Reading Comprehension classes at Whitefield Academy (www.whitefield.org) where she attends school. So far it has been tremendous! In the package comes headphones and a reading program we can use for a year. She is working through www.scilearn.com (Scientific Learning). She can work at home in between classes reading books, recording her voice, having the books read to her, work on words she doesn't know the meanings of, take quizzes on what she has read, etc. She loves it and so do Rob and I! We have 7 more sessions but she will learn over the next year.
Another amazing thing this week is that I found long lost family members that I thought I would never hear from again! My cousin, Ellie, found me on Facebook which proceeded to connect me to Aunts, Uncles and more cousins on my Dad's side. I haven't seen these people since I was in elementary school. All these years, I have thought about them often, as I still do my own parents, but figured I would never see them again unless they were believers that I would see in Heaven. It has been so much fun learning about them through laughter and tears and telling them my personal testimony and things that have happened in my life. I know this was in God's plan and I thank Him for that!
One thing that Rob and I did today was make updated lists of several things.....our goals, things we needed to do for our family and our marriage and things we needed to finally look into purchasing that we've been holding back on. Since the fire in 2010, we haven't been able to get back on our feet with organization. No more! Until the fire, we were very organized and our house flowed smoothly. We have to get it together again for our sake! HA! One of the things we did put on our list was to begin family vacations again in 2013. We will be going to camp this July at Crossings (www.gocrossings.org) as a family now that Rob works there, which we are all excited about! I am also craving a trip to St. Petersburg, Florida (www.stpete.org) where we haven't been since Carissa was around two years old. Rob and I used to go every year before we had Carissa. We need to return to our home away from home! Speaking of which, I found a cute picture of Carissa from our trip back then (see above). Enjoy and God bless!

Two Years???
I cannot believe it has been 2 years since I've posted to my blog. Ridiculous is all I can say! Actually today marks the 2 year mark of our family passing court! I am so ashamed that I've let this blog go since we brought Melia home. I also need to find a way to add more pictures and update our adoption timeline.
It took Rob about 2 hours to fix this blog so I could actually log into it tonight. So, needless to say, I cannot do much to it tonight since I have about a 12 hour day tomorrow and need to get some sleep!
Stay tuned!

27 Days
Is it really going to be only 27 days until we see MELIA MIHRET ALLEN????
Yes, that is going to be her name. Her Ethiopian name is Mihret but since I have such difficulty pronouncing it properly, we decided to give her another first name. One of my good friends, Lindsey, gave us some suggestions and we loved MELIA! It reminds us of Rob's trip to Morocco and it goes wonderfully with Mihret!
We received a tentative Embassy date of July 29th, which means we might have to leave Louisville on July 24th. We should know for sure soon, hopefully this week. We have tons of preparations!
Note: Originally thought her name was Meheret but the paperwork was wrong apparently! HA!

Her Name
Well, we did it! We came up with a name for our soon-to-be-home daughter! I would LOVE to post it here but can't. Just know we did it! (Thanks Lindsey for the EXCELLENT suggestion!)

Names
Well, I can't type much about our referral here for various reasons. But, we are in the process of thinking of names for her. It's not an easy process considering her given name, which we will definately keep as part of her name. We are praying for God's guidance and we ask you for prayer as well.
