Footprints in Faith: A few pics!

We are the Allen family - Rob, Mandi, Carissa and Melia. We are members of Highview Baptist Church, East Campus, where we are richly blessed with wonderful friends. We love to serve our amazing Father and look at each situation as from Him. We strive daily to ask for His will, pray that we follow it and continue to love Him. Our main ministry at Highview has been our ABF (Adult Bible Fellowship) Class. Rob loves teaching our ABF community and I love to "love on them"! We are raising Carissa and Melia to also know what a servant's heart is and how to be a friend to others! God is so good all the time!

OUR ADOPTION PROCESS

June 4, 2009 - Made final decision to adopt from Ethiopia

June 9, 2009 - Met with Arise Adoptions

June 10, 2009 - Talked with Adoption Assistance

June 11, 2009 - Started several applications

August 6, 2009 - Mailed off applications for Arise and Lifesong

August 17, 2009 - First home study with Adoption Assistance

September 10, 2009 - Second home study with Adoption Assistance

November 7, 2009 - FUNDRAISER

November 13, 2009 - Home study approved! Also found out somebody secretly paid for it! What a blessing!

December 2009 - Lifesong approved and matched contributions from Fundraiser

January 13, 2010 - Picked up dossier paperwork

January 25, 2010 - Received our referrral

February 22, 2010 - We figured out her new name

February 22, 2010 - Sent application to USCIS for I400A form (been through many setbacks to finally get this sent off!)

March 2, 2010 - Went to Frankfort, KY to get all the documents notarized on the state level

March 10, 2010 - Dossier done and one it's way to Ethiopia

March 15, 2010 - Dossier arrived in Ethiopia

March 30, 2010 - Rob and I got our fingerprints done

June 11, 2010 - Passed court!!!!

June 16, 2010 - Travel meeting with Arise to prepare to leave

July 22, 2010 - Left for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia! We traveled through New York City, Dubai and then to Addis.

July 26, 2010 - Met Melia Mihret for the first time. Our lives changed forever!

July 29, 2010 - Embassy date (we passed!!)

July 31, 2010 - Left Addis with our new daughter to come home. We traveled back through Dubai, New York City and then home.

August 1, 2010 - We arrived back home to huge group of friends and family! Those especially excited were Carissa, Grandma and Pappaw!

2012 - Working on re-adoption process here so she will have her own birth certificate and social security number
